Definitely a conversation piece. This small box is made of Cherry. It starts out as a block of wood 10" wide, 4" wide and 5 1/2" high. Then I cut it into 17 different pieces and re-assemble them to create the box. A finger hole in the back is the means to open the drawer. The drawer itself is lined with deep wine-colored flocking. The box sits on small turned brass feet.
