This box is made of two very contrasting woods ... Sapele, which is an open grained, figured wood from the Mahogany family. Its surface has ribbons of light and dark that change as the light moves about. The lid is closed grain Curly Maple with its own figure and light effects. Together they make a box that one never tires of looking at. The box itself is 10" x 14" x 6" high. It has two half-width sliding trays inside. The trays, along with the divided bottom compartment are lined with deep blue velvet. Hinges are solid milled brass with built-in stops to keep the lid open. The finish is satin lacquer.
