Hollow Form Bowl
Material on this hollow form is very wormy Butternut wood which adds to its character. The Butternut trees in the midwest are dying due to a fungus. This wood came from one of the dead trees. Finished in laquer and coated with wax. Measures 5.25" tall and diameter is 5.5"
 
Walnut Hollow Form
This vase/ hollow form was made from walnut and has a bark inclusion around its top that adds a lot of character to the piece. Finished with a laquer coating and waxed. Measures 5.75" tall and diameter is 6.5".
 
Elm Hollow Form
This hollow form is made from Elm wood that is spalted giving the bottom of the piece a salt and pepper look. Spalting is the start of the decay process and can add a lot of interest to a piece of wood. Measures 4" tall and has a diameter of 4.25".
 
Natural Edge Amboyna Burl Bowl
This small natural edge bowl is made from an Amboyna burl that comes from S. E. Asia. Finished with Laquer and then waxed. Amboyna burl wood is rare and quite expensive in the raw state. Measures 2" tall an has a diameter of 3.5"
 
Hackberry Bowl
This bowl is made from a piece of Hackberry tree and has a rounded over top edge. Slightly different form than a normal bowl. Finished with Laquer and wax, not suitable for holding liquids. Measures 3" tall and has a diameter of 6.5".
 
Red Goblet
This goblet is turned from Elm wood and lacked the usual character that I look for in wood. So, I dyed it lightly with a red dye so the grain and wood "character" still show. 6" high and 2 1/2" diameter.
 
Small Walnut Hollow Form
The wood is Walnut, size is 3.5" high and diameter is 3.5"

Segmented Bowl
Segmented bowl with walnut and maple woods used. Constructions starts by laminating maple veneer to a walnut board. Then segments are cut to make a cylinder, glued together, then hollowed and turned to the final form. 4" tall x 3.75" dia.

This item is turned so the bark will show on the top edge. The wood is White Birch and had started to spalt which shows some interesting color and tones. Spalting is the natural decay process and it brings some stunning designs to life, all part of the natural process.

The lid on this piece is made with 18 separate pieces glued and then turned to the final shape. Both lid and bowl are made from American Walnut. Segmented pieces are always conversation pieces.
